Hello loyal readers and other folks. Well we just had ourselves a full weekend of racin’. Yessirree we did. Duck and I were grateful, however we were plagued by a constant mess of visitors. Such as that can and has in the past taken Duck and I to levels of irritation that can only be described as ugly, ugly, ugly. Most, if not all, folks in these here parts know all too well not to interrupt our race viewin’ days of Friday through Sunday unless it is a dire emergency. And these door to door bothersome peoples can’t seem to read our “Do Not Bother Us No How No Way Friday through Sunday” sign I had special made for my door. I try to excuse some of these local nitwit knuckleheads but my own baby sister Freezie Mae? What is this here world comin’ to anyway?
Well she let me know sure enough. Seems her latest sweetness broke up with her, as if Duck and I care?! First off I told her years ago she best learn to cook cause she was lackin’ upstairs if ya know what I mean. Well, fact is fact. And because of that I told her to keep a neat place and also to stay put in one spot for a good spell cause when looks fade some eyes wander and ya need to know who you can trust. That’s country sad but factual. Course she didn’t listen and now I’m supposed to interrupt her catawallin’ to say somethin’ she will listen to? Uh, sorry there sister dear so I told her she best better find someone else who had time and the willin’s to do so cause Duck and I were extremely otherwise engaged with very important matters. Know what I mean? We tried to watch and listen to the racin’ over her whailin’ and nose blowin’ but finally I just had to shove her out the door, lock it and turn up the volume. Oh the trials and tribulations we have to go through in these here parts. I have pondered a move way out on Pickles Point for quite a spell now. That’s soundin’ better and better but enough of all this weekend bothersome saga stuff cause none of it is neither here nor there anyway. I’m just sayin’. So after a whole lot of interruptin’ and aggravatin’ weekend happenin’s let’s get after this task at hand.
Friday none of those top NASCAR drivers raced but Saturday made up for it if ya know what I mean. Saturday early afternoon the Nationwide Series took to the Loudon track and then later that evenin’ the Trucks raced at Iowa. Oh what a wonderful day for TV viewin’ NASCAR fans if ya don’t live in these here parts. Course our worst race viewin’ weekend day is a whole lot better than no race viewin’ weekend day if ya get my point.
Anyway, GB Brad started on the pole with Kutie Kahne, Ricky, Jr, Happy Pappy (more on that later) and Rowdy Boy. For those who want to know WOG started 12th, Curly Sadler started 7th and That Girl started 18th. The rest you can look up. Course you can pretty much figure I can’t do a lap by lap deal even if I wanted to but I don’t cause with so many interruptions I can’t remember who did what where or when and neither can Duck. I can tell you it was 200 laps of more dadgum action than we got to witness. And Rowdy Boy only completed an unusual 121 laps after some fuel pressure problems and finished 28th. In fact by lap 47 12 cars were out of the runnin;. Sad for all of ’em I say! And GB Brad finished where he started in the catbird seat follwed by Happy Pappy (like I already said more on that later), WOG, Hornish Jr, and Ricky Jr. For those who want to know Curly Sadler finished 7th, Jamie Mac finished where he started in 9th, Pastrana finished 31st after havin’ an accident and only completed 77 laps, That Girl finished 14th and the rest you can look up.
So the Trucks took to the track at 8 that evening at Iowa. I think they all love that place. The aggravation and constant interruuptin’ continued even at nighttime. Can you believe that? Anyway TP started on the pole followed by Piquet Jr, Lofton. Buescher and Rock’em Sock’em. For those who want to know Handsome Hornaday started 8th, Crafty Matt started 7th and WYG started 15th. This was also a 200 lapper so if you were there or lucky enough to not be bothered time and time again to interrupt your TV viewin’ you got to witness a total of 400 laps of racin’ that day which of course we didnn’t. I’m just still ticked off and sayin’. Anyway only 16 trucks finished on the lead lap. This was another one of those finished where he started winners with TP in the 1st spot so good for him I say. Handsome Hornaday finished 2nd followed by Crafty Matt, Rock’em Sock’em and Lofton. FTWWTK (for those who want to know) WYG finished 7th, Bodine finished 12th and the rest you can look up.
So we both fell in to our beds. I think we were as tired from being interrupted so much as we were for the time of night cause we both try to get under the covers early like to tackle the chores early next day but like with all stuff a granny and duck have to do what a granny and duck have to do and you do know what I mean.
So we got up early, got after those chores, planned on a good race viewin’ day, made sure our sign was still firmly attached to the front door and had our snacks and drinks of choice on the crates and cheered and clapped as Rowdy Boy, Kutie Kahne, Denny Boy, Truex Jr and Bowyer led them to the green at Loudin again. And for those who want to know all the Hendrick drivers started in the top 10 and so did Flyin’ Ryan and Happy Pappy (that boy had a lot to be happy about to and again more on that later). Anyway FTWWTK Smoke started 10th, Biff started 11th and Sam Jr started 24th in the 22 car for the 2nd week in a row (more on that later too) and the rest you can look up. This was a 301 lap race and trust me when I very much irritatedly say Duck and I didn’t even get close to seein’ most of those laps. I won’t go on about why. Let’s just say if bein’ that plain ol’ ticked off could raise a roof Duck and I would be permanently gazin’ at that great big ol’ yonder up above for the rest of our natural born lives but anyway that is all I can plumb tuckered out say about it.
So 32 cars finished the race and 8 of ’em were out before lap 100. Just plain ol’ sad for all of ‘those 8 I say! This time the top spot starter didn’t finish in the top spot. Instead he finished 16th and Kutie Kahne was the one in the top spot so good for him I say! Denny Boy finished 2nd followed by Bowyer, JR and GB Brad. FTWWTK Jeffie and NSCJBMAS Jimmie finished 6th and 7th, Happy Pappy finished 8th, Smoke finished 12th and the rest you can look up.
Duck and I are fairly much glad this here race weekend is over. I pretty much figure I am too old for this much aggravation and Duck is too down in the dumps over Flippin’ Carl’s year to handle too much. Notice if you will I didn’t give his startin’ or finishin’ order so you can just put that in your pipe, smoke it and figure out it is all not good. By the way Robo is still the points leader, JR is still the second seater and the rest of that and the standin’s in the other 2 series you can look up too.
Now for some other stuff. Well, well, well Happy and Delana finally welcomed their little baby boy in to the world. GOOD for them I say! I am a little upset that they didn’t name the little sweetie Otis. I truly like that name. I had an old long time friend we all called Old Otter Otis. Why that man could catch more otters than anyone could shake a stick at and get away with it. He died a few years back. They say he got a little too sure of himself, dove down into the creek after a very troublesome otter and was never seen from again. Witnesses swear to such. Anyway they buried him at creek (well it wasn’t an ocean or sea so…) and the rest is local and sad history. Instead the Harvicks named their boy Keelan Paul. Guess they could call him KeeP (get it Kee P) for short. That’s kinda catchy I reckon but it ain’t no Otis Harvick for sure. Oh well to each their own I almost always say. Anyway congratulations to y’all there Happy and wifey! And I guess it’s fair to say KeeP is a keeper. Oh now I do like Keeper Harvick as his nickname. Guess that’s what Duck and I will call him anyway. Course that’s neither here nor there, I’m just explainin’.
And next up let’s discuss slightly this suspension of Allmendinger’s for failin’ NASCAR’s substance abuse tests. Accordin’ to reports I read somewheres Dinger can’t figure out how that happened. Now let’s give that boy the benefit of the doubt at this point. Can’t hurt if ya know what I mean. I mean he ain’t drivin’ a race car afterall. He said he was wonderin’ if it could be an over the counter somethin’. I guess it could be. It was reported to be a stimulant of some sort. Shoot fuzzy there are a whole lot of stuffs in these here parts that could probably cause somethin’ like that. Why if any of us townfolks got tested after eatin’ a plate of Beaver Bistro’s biscuits and gravy we’d probably all be parked for a spell. I don’t know much about this Dinger deal I’m just sayin’ let’s wait it out and see. Well frankly we have to. We ain’t got no choice. Know what I mean? and Sam the Man is doin’ ok so enough said on that subject foir now
And finally have you noticed how many Jr’s are racin’ in the top 3 NASCAR series these days? Oh my good and gracious LORD, there’s a whole mess of ’em. Why there’s Dale Jr, Truex Jr, Hornish Jr, Stenhouse Jr, Richardson Jr, Piquet Jr and then some. Course if ya just say JR we all know who that is and then there is all this cheerin’, whoopin’ and hollerin’. Gets me all worked up just thinkin’ about it. Course that’s neither here nor there neither but it sure is fun sayin’ it.
So there ya have it. Next week the Cup drivers are off for a needed relaxation I am pert near sure but the Nationwide Series and the Trucks head to Chicago. Check your local listin’s. Email, comment or don’t. I don’t care cause I am a very busy, and you know that cause I tell ya all the time, so Grump and Duck over and out.
