MARTINSVILLE, Va. – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) driver Kyle Larson was taken to a local hospital as a precaution after fainting at an appearance Saturday afternoon at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
Larson, 22, was at the Chevy Stage in the fan zone when he reportedly became ill and passed out.
According to multiple reports, the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates driver was awake and alert, but transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The reports also said that Larson is expected to compete in Sunday’s STP 500 (1 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1) after qualifying seventh Friday afternoon.
Larson is 18th in the Sprint Cup Series standings after five races with two top-10 finishes.
