Talladega, Ala. – NASCAR XFINITY Series regular Ross Chastain will take advantage of an off weekend of his normal duties for JD Motorsports to return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Saturday afternoon’s fred’s 250.
Chastain, the Alva, Florida native has teamed up with Bolen Motorsports and will drive the No. 66 Chevrolet Silverado in his first truck race since the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2013 driving for Win-Tron Racing.
Bolen Motorsports driver Jordan Anderson was originally slated to drive the team’s entry per NASCAR’s entry list, but a last-minute arrangement was made putting the 23-year-old Chastain in his hopeful third Talladega start.
Chastain has two starts at the 2.66-mile superspeedway with a best showing of third in 2013 driving for Brad Keselowski Racing. Overall, he has 44 career starts with two poles, five top-five and 14 top-10 finishes, including a career-best second, twice at Iowa Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway in 2013, also driving for Team BKR.
Although disappointed not to be in the seat for his 16th start of the season, Anderson is at Talladega to support his Mooresville, North Carolina-based team and has committed sponsorship for the No. 66 seat for upcoming races at Texas Motor Speedway and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Chastain didn’t practice in the first of two sessions at Talladega earlier Friday.
