Veteran racer Jeb Burton will make his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start in nearly two years at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway driving the No. 20 Chevrolet for Young’s Motorsports.
Burton, the Halifax, Virginia native will have support from longtime sponsor State Water Heaters for the Oct. 28 Alpha Energy Resources 200 presented by Texas Roadhouse and drive Young’s Motorsports second entry for the 200-lap race.
The tight Martinsville 0.526-mile paperclip venue is dubbed as Burton’s hometown track.
“I’m really thankful for this opportunity to drive for Young’s Motorsports at Martinsville,” said Burton in a press release. “It’s going to be great to get back into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and have an opportunity to come out of the box and compete for a strong finish.
“The Young’s Motorsports team has always flourished with speed at Martinsville and I’m hoping that with me behind the wheel and Chad (Kendrick, crew chief) calling the shots and our ECR engine, we’ll have a chance to put ourselves in the hunt for a top-five finish.
“It’s a home game for me and short track racing, so I’m very excited. I love racing at Martinsville, and I felt like I should have already won there. I really want that clock. We’re going to do what we can to bring it home!”
In addition to State Water Heaters, the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation will serve as an associate partner for Burton’s 51st Truck Series race.
Burton’s most success in the Truck Series came in 2013 driving for Turner Scott Motorsports.
In 22 races, he earned his first career win at Texas Motor Speedway, claimed a season-high seven poles, tying a rookie record. He earned five top-five and 11 top-10 finishes along the way en-route to a fifth-place finish in the championship standings.
Prior to the start of the 2014 season, Burton’s sponsor defaulted on sponsorship payments and he lost his ride with Turner Scott Motorsports.
He later landed at ThorSport Racing with support from Estes Trucking where he earned a season-high second in the fall race at Texas Motor Speedway which assisted in his seventh-place championship effort.
In 50 career NCWTS starts, Burton has earned seven poles, one win (Texas Motor Speedway), seven top-five and 19 top-10 finishes in a span of four years of competition.
Burton made his Truck Series debut at Martinsville in 2012 driving for Hillman Racing qualifying seventh and finishing a respectable 13th in a race backed by State Water Heaters.
