SPARTA, Ky. – NASCAR ejected Team Penske Xfinity Series crew chief Brian Wilson on Thursday afternoon and suspended him from the rest of the weekend for an L1 penalty for body modification to Austin Cindric’s No. 22 Ford Mustang.
In addition to the L1 penalty, Wilson was also fined $10,000 and the team will be docked with the loss of 10 driver and owner championship points respectively.
A Team Penske representative has said the team has not decided who will crew chief Cindric in Friday night’s Alsco 300, but team manager Jefferson Hodges is serving as acting crew chief for both Xfinity Series practices on Thursday.
Cindric, 20, remains fourth in the series standings after the penalty at 589 points. He’s now 16 points ahead of Justin Allgaier in fifth. In 16 races this season, the Mooresville, N.C. native has six top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.
The Alsco 300 is set for Fri. July 12 at 7:30 p.m. on NBCSN, PRN and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
