CONCORD, N.C.: Shortly before the start of the only practice session Friday at the Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway ROVAL, Front Row Motorsports’ Michael McDowell was transported to a local hospital after complaining of abdominal pain.
Front Row Motorsports confirmed their driver condition through Twitter and subsequently announced that NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoff driver Austin Cindric will drive the team’s No. 34 Ford Mustang during the 50-minute practice session from 12:05 p.m. – 12:55 p.m. ET.
Front Row stated that the Phoenix, Ariz. native did visit the track’s infield care center before being transported for further evaluation.
The Mooresville, N.C.-based team has not indicated whether Cindric will qualify the car later today at 4:40 p.m. ET.
