Former Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Cup Series engineer Ryan Sparks will serve as crew chief for Corey Lajoie for the 2020 season, Go Fas Racing has confirmed to CATCHFENCE.com.
A native of Winston Salem, N.C., Sparks joins the Mooresville, N.C.-based team from RCR where he served as race engineer on the No. 3 Cup Series team with driver Austin Dillon. The 35-year-old was also a race engineer during Dillon’s championship seasons in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (2011) and NASCAR Xfinity Series (2013).
Some of his other accolades during a 13-year tenure at RCR include wins in the Daytona 500 and a Coca-Cola 600, two of NASCAR’s crown-jewel events with Dillon.
“I am beyond ecstatic for the opportunity that the St. Hilaire family has given me,” Sparks said. “This is something I’ve been working for my entire career, and I’m looking forward to working with Corey and continuing Go Fas Racing’s progression up the points standings.”
Lajoie who is set to return to Go Fas Racing after a career-best season for the Archie St. Hilaire-owned organization is eager to work with Sparks and help his team continue to strengthen as a single-car operation.
“Ryan comes with a ton of motivation and knowledge to continue pushing the team in the right direction,” offered LaJoie. “Just by being around him for a couple of hours on his first day I knew he was the guy for the job.”
While Go Fas Racing is a single-car operation for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, the team will have a technical alliance agreement with Stewart-Haas Racing.
Through the alliance agreement, SHR will provide Go Fas Racing with the chassis, data and technical support for the team’s No. 32 Ford Mustang. Go Fas will continue their current relationship with Ford Performance and Roush Yates Engines.
