2018 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series champion Brett Moffitt has been medically cleared to return to competition two months after injuring both of his legs.
Moffitt, 27, was hurt in a motorcross bike accident on March 14, where he suffered fractures in both of his legs and underwent surgery. His GMS Racing team announced his injury two days later.
Moffitt would have been racing at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway for the Vet Tix | Camping World 200 on Saturday, but the coronavirus pandemic halted action in NASCAR’s top three national series starting at Atlanta.
Aggressive rehabilitation has paid off with Moffitt is cleared to participate in the upcoming Truck Series race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on May 26. The Truck Series has been idle after two races because of the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak
Because of the global health crisis, the Grimes, Iowa native has not missed a Truck Series race and is currently fourth in the Truck Series championship standings despite finishing 13th and 16th at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway respectively.
Talk about a damn good Monday! It’s race week!! Andddd oh yea… I’ve been officially cleared by the Dr. and @NASCAR to return to racing. LETTTTSSSGOOOO 💪💪🏁🏆🍻🏁🏆🍻
