Ryan Truex will compete for the 2021 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship for Niece Motorsports.
Truex made the announcement creatively on social media Tuesday with a simple picture of his No. 40 Marquis Hot Tubs Chevrolet Silverado which contained hidden clues to his expanded schedule with the Statesville, N.C.-based team next year.
“Last season was really a learning year for me with this team,” said Truex. “I feel like we learned a ton every week. We adjusted to working with no track time prior to racing, and I feel like we made our equipment better throughout the course of the year.”
Truex, the brother of NASCAR Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. will return to the series on a full-time basis for the first time since 2017 where he drove for Hattori Racing Enterprises (HRE) and finished ninth in the championship standings.
After spending 2018 and 2019 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing and JR Motorsports, Truex returned to the Truck Series this season where he shared the Niece Motorsports seat with fellow drivers Ross Chastain and Carson Hocevar.
Truex, a native of Mayetta, N.J. competed in nine Truck Series races this season but failed to score a top-10 finish. He did, however, earn four top-15 finishes including back-to-back 12th place finishes at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway, respectively.
“I am excited about the continuity we will be able to build, competing week in and week out,” added Truex. “I’m thankful to Marquis Spas for their support this season and as we move into next season.”
Niece Motorsports general manager Cody Efaw says the organization is working hard to improve their on-track performance for 2021 and expects Truex to compete for wins.
“We’re excited to bring Ryan full-time next season,” offered general manager Cody Efaw. “As a team, we are really excited about how our program is shaping up for next season. We are working hard collectively to make our equipment the best it can be.
“We are thankful for the support of great partners like Marquis and Chevrolet. We look forward to contending for wins next year with Ryan.”
Truex, 28, is still vying for his first win in NASCAR’s top three national series. Overall, he has 51 Truck Series starts with two poles, 10 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes.
The 2010 ARCA Menards Series East champion has finished a career-best second in Trucks on two occasions and both with HRE at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway both during the 2017 season.
Marquis Hot Tubs will continue its relationship in 2021 as the primary sponsor for Truex.
