BRISTOL, Tenn: Despite rumors that Brandon Jones may depart for another NASCAR Xfinity Series team in 2024, JR Motorsports announced Friday morning that the five-time Xfinity Series will return to the organization and pilot the No. 9 Menards Chevrolet for a second full-time season.
Jones joined JR Motorsports at the beginning of the season and while many thought the new partnership would ignite into consistency and multiple wins for Jones, the season has full of frustration and disappointment.
Entering Friday night’s Food City 300 at Bristol, Jones, 26, has just three top-five and seven top-10 finishes in 26 races and stands a disappointing 14th in the championship standings.
For the first time since 2017, Jones did not make the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs despite a second-place run at Kansas Speedway last weekend. A win at the 1.5-mile track would have vaulted Jones and crew chief Jason Burdett into the 12-driver championship hunt.
“Competing for race wins and series championships alongside John Menard and Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a driver’s dream come true, especially since both have worked together with great success before,” Jones said in a press release.
“The partnership between the two organizations is top-notch and I am excited for the opportuning to continue that success.”
The partnership between Menards and JR Motorsports dates back to 2004, when team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced co-branded Menards Chevrolets for Chance 2 Motorsports to three Xfinity Series victories over two seasons.
Menards has been a fixture in NASCAR since 2003 and is active in all three of NASCAR’s national series.
The Eau Claire, Wis.-based home-improvement giant has been aligned with Jones since the 2016 Xfinity Series season.
In 262 Xfinity Series starts since 2015, Jones has eight poles, five wins, 39 top-five and 108 top-10 finishes.
