NASHVILLE: While Bubba Wallace didn’t achieve the finish he had hoped for, 10th in the NASCAR Cup standings marked a career-best for the 30-year-old driver following his first Playoff run.
Over the final 10 races in the postseason, Wallace posted a remarkable average finish of 7.2.
However, one top-five and four top 10 results weren’t going to carry the driver of the No. 23 Toyota to the Championship 4.
“It’s good to be here,” Wallace said. “It’s good to experience it all. Learned some things—what to do, what not to do. Just proud of the effort of the team. I wouldn’t be here without my guys making it all work at 23XI.
“Having come from where we were three years ago to now is something to be proud of. I focus on negatives more than I should. I didn’t win this year. Got to get in shape, get in gear and make sure we do that early. The stressful runs of winning late isn’t fun for any of us. We know what we have to do, we just need to go out and do it.”
Wallace is looking forward to the new home of 23XI Racing just north of Charlotte. The moving process begins next week with teams are expected to be relocated before the first of the new year.
