Go Fas Racing announced Tuesday that Corey LaJoie will return to the NASCAR Cup Series organization for the 2020 season.
CATCHFENCE.com was the first to report in November that Mooresville, N.C.’s Go Fas Racing will a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing next season, which will include chassis and data support.
For LaJoie, a native of Concord, N.C., 2020 will be his sophomore season driving for the family-owned team.
In his first full season of Cup competition, LaJoie finished 29th in the championship standings with two top-10 finishes but seven top-20 finishes overall. LaJoie earned his career-best sixth-place finish at Daytona (Fla.) Speedway in July. It was also a career-best performance for the Archie St. Hilaire owned team.
LaJoie’s solid consistency throughout the season also helped slightly propel the average finish for the Go Fas Racing team from 27.0 in 2018 to 25.9 across 36 races this season.
“I’m really happy that we were able to work it out so I’m able to drive the No. 32 Mustang in 2020,” said LaJoie.
“This group is a lot of fun to go racing with, and I look forward to utilizing these SHR cars and putting together some solid runs. We had some really good finishes in 2019, and I’m excited because, with the potential we have going forward, we can make 2020 an even better year.”
Revealing on his “Sunday Monday” podcast this week, LaJoie said he will have a new crew chief next season as Randy Cox who called the shots this season will be coming off the road. No timetable has been set to announce Cox’s replacement.
“Mason [St. Hilaire] and I are excited to bring Corey back and continue Go Fas Racing’s growth with 2019 being our best year ever,” said team owner Archie St. Hilaire.
“The Stewart-Haas Racing alliance should allow us to continue that progress throughout the 2020 season with all the great employees and marketing partners this team has! We couldn’t be more excited for the 2020 season to begin.”
The 28-year-old joined the organization from TriStar Motorsports after the departure of Matt DiBenedetto at the conclusion of the 2018 season.
Drydene Performance Products, Keen Parts, Schluter Systems and Superior Logistics and are just some of the marketing partners returning to the team in 2020.
