Motorists along I-10, I-17 and the 202 will see 20 digital displays signaling the upcoming Shriners Children’s 500 weekend
PHOENIX (Feb. 18, 2025) – With another thrilling DAYTONA 500 finish in the rearview mirror, numerous digital countdown clocks have been deployed on Valley roadways to ramp up excitement for NASCAR’s return to Phoenix Raceway, March 7-9.
This week, Phoenix Raceway deployed 20 digital countdown billboards to remind motorists on I-10, I-17 and the 202 freeway that the Shriners Children’s 500 is just around the corner. The billboards went live on Monday, just a day after William Byron won the 67th running of the DAYTONA 500, NASCAR’s season-opening showcase.
“Seeing this countdown each day is a powerful reminder that we need to be ready to welcome the best fans in the world back to our state-of-the-art venue next month,” said Phoenix Raceway President Latasha Causey. “It’s almost our turn to once again share the excitement only NASCAR racing offers.”
NASCAR returns to Phoenix Raceway with three incredible days of racing, March 7-9. On Friday, March 7, the ARCA Menards Series will jumpstart the weekend with the General Tire 150 at 6 p.m. The action continues Saturday with the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ GOVX 200 at 3 p.m., preceded by NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying.
And then at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, the stars of the NASCAR Cup Series throttle up the drama in the Shriners Children’s 500. Christopher Bell won last year’s Shriners Children’s 500, and this year’s race promises even more excitement. Goodyear will provide each car two faster sets of “option” tires that teams can deploy at their discretion. While being faster in the short run, the option tires will wear faster, forcing drivers and teams to make risk vs. reward decisions that will increase the level of competition.

The action March 7-9 will be a potent prelude to the unmatched thrills of NASCAR Championship Weekend at Phoenix Raceway, Oct. 31-Nov. 2. Four champions will be crowned over three days as the best drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series West will compete for their respective season titles.
