Well hello again loyal readers and other folks. I’m getting’ a late start to this weeks’s race report but I had a bad night with Duck. That boy had some kind of un-natural reaction to Sunday’s Cup race result for Flippin’ Carl. Now I know he truly does idolize that driver but flyin’ up on the roof of the house and quackin’ madly about Carl bein’ the best is way too far out of line to my way of thinkin’, let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now. Got me upset and pretty miffed with him. I don’t like bein’ woke up in the middle of the night to that kind of fit throwin’ nonsense. Nossirree I don’t, but possibly more on that later.
The Trucks were still off this past weekend and will be for a couple more weeks which has got to be a streak breaker for those who did well at Daytona. Course maybe the powers that be knew somethin’ more than this granny knows. Maybe they had an inklin’ that there was gonna be some kind of issue with inspections or somethin’ of the sort and figured they needed some time to straighten somethin’ out. It’s not like that sort of stuff is somethin’ new, if ya know what I mean. It’s been tried many times and addressed as well. This granny just doesn’t know but I’m just wonderin’ considerin’ the ruckus between these barber shop bozos here and the head whailin’ Oswald the Bald (my late husband Elmer, shame on him, nicknamed him that) took the other day. Not sure who was defendin’ who in that suspensions melee but I do wonder if more such debates have gone on across this country. Anyway possibly more on this later too, but I doubt it.
Anyway the Nationwide Series took to that amazin’ half miler Bristol Saturday. I think pert near everybody loves short track racin’. I know Duck and I do for certain. I believe possibly 8 Cup drivers were amongst the participants. Wide Smilin’ started on the pole, followed by Baby Face, Ricky, Jr, Curly Sadler and Brian Scott. For those who want to know JR started 16th, his nephew Jeffrey started 32nd in equipment that had nothin’ whatsoever to do with anyone affiliated with the Earnhardt family, Happy Man started 6th and 2 girls were in the race those bein’ That Girl and pretty Johanna Long. You can look up where they started while you’re lookin’ up the rest if ya wanna know.
This was a 300 lap race on this teeny track. Ya gotta know there is gonna be some messes out there and the end of the field is gonna start goin’ down a lap real quick like. Makes this granny nervous if ya know what I mean but at the same time I get all excited and such. So does Duck for those who wanna know. So we placed our snacks and drinks on the new crates and settled in. Flippin’ Carl wasn’t racin’ that day which left Duck free to whoop and holler for just anybody he wanted to, thank our good and gracious LORD and the green flag flew!
Wide smilin’ started lappin the rear of the field by lap 16. I told ya it don’t take long! Anyway by lap 68 Rowdy Boy took the lead. Mercy sakes that boy was fast. Duck was booin’ but I let him do it. That’s not nice but easier than havin’ him pout about Flippin’ Carl. Anyway after caution #1 Rowdy wasn’t leadin’ but I don’t remember who was but I do know there was a total of only 4 cautions which seemed amazin’ to Duck and I. And I do know that Curly Sadler won that race so good for him I say. I really like that boy! Ya know this is his 2nd win this season so another GOOD FOR HIM I say! Kutie Kahne finished 2nd followed by G/B Brad, Wide Smilin’ and JR. Good for all of ’em I say! For those who want to know WYG finished 12th, That Girl finished 19th, Happy finished 9th and the rest you can look up.
Sunday we got our chores done early like we always do so we can enjoy the race. We were ready too to see Bristol like only the Cup guys can do. Yessiree we were. Course Duck was ready to root for Flippin’ carl and I like a lot of Cup drivers so I was ready to see who was gonna do what at this crazy and excitin’ place. With only drinks on the crates we cheered and quacked as the green flag flew.
Biffle Boy was on the pole followed by Adinger, Flyin’ Ryan, Jeffie and G/B Brad. For those who want to know JR started 18th, Not Same Champ Jimmie started 22nd, Smoke started 23rd and Flippin’ Carl started 8th to Duck’s joy. But that wasn’t gonna last long. Nossirre!
G/B Brad was on a mission. He wanted to show folks that his win last year wasn’t a fluke. And cause I’m runnin’ out of time cause I have a doctors appointment for this crazed actin’ Duck. I can’t give too many details. I will say early on there was a wreck that involved Flippin’ Carl, Not Same Champ Jimmie, Aussie Man, Happy Man, Rowdy Boy and Kutie Kahne. Course Duck went to havin’ a full on fit, one like I have never seen out of him before. Sadly Flippin’ Carl was hurt too much to contend for a win. And G/B Brad went on to lead 232 laps and prove his point. Robo Man gave him fits in tryin’ to pass him up at the end but he just fell a little bit short. It was an excitin’ race. Yessirree it was even though Duck made it hard to enjoy. I may have to banish him to his room durin; Cup racin’ day. I’m gonna ask his doctor what he thinks about that idea. Anyway Robo finished 2nd followed by Truex, Jr., Bowyer and Vickers. Now that was pleasure to see, I mean Vickers gettin’ another shot at racin’ with Mikey and doin’ so well. So good for him and all of ’em I say. For those who want to know JuanToya finished 8th, Not Same Champ finished 9th, JR finished 18th after some up front racin’ pert near all day but got a speedin’ penalty on pit road, and Flippin’ Carl finished39th. Oh the sadness that caused Duck and personal displeasure and lack of sleep for me. But that’s Bristol baby as someone used to say. So the rest you can look up.
Oh and at one point JR and Jeffie were doin’ the rubbin’ is racin’ deal and JR’s tailpipes hit Jeffie’s tire and popped it. Course Jeffie was mad and JR was sad but I think they will work it out. After all that was Bristol if ya know what I mean.
I just can’t get back to the possible other stuff cause I’m runnin’ out of time. Next week they head to California. I guess I will catch up with ya after that. I do so wish Duck well. Racin’ won’t be the same without my quackin’ buddy, if ya know what I mean. Anyway email, comment or don’t. Either way I don’t care cause I’m a very tired today and busy woman.
