Hello loyal readers and other folks. First of all I want to express our heart felt concerns for the fans injured after yesterday’s race and for the family of the young man killed as a result of a lightnin’ strike. I have read that some folks are blamin’ NASCAR for not endin’ the race sooner and sendin’ the fans on their way earlier. Now folks the warnin’s about the weather were over 24 hours old. Duck and I knew about it and figured the race wouldn’t even get started let alone finished or even close to it so I am sure the people attendin’ were privy to the same information. I also read that 45 minutes before the race was called the track announced the approachin’ storm. Fact is the skies told the story of the approachin’ storm. We could see it on the TV so those in the grandstands certainly were aware. It’s just a sad, sad situation no doubt about it. Nothin’ can make somethin’ like this seem better but NASCAR fans everywhere are mournin’ the loss and injuries. Our hearts truly are heavy and may our wonderful GOD Bless them all.
Now with heavy hearts Duck and I are gonna make this a short and to the point report. Saturday afternoon early the Trucks took to the track. That track just seems custom made for crazy excitement and those trucks just fit perfectly on that trippy ol’ triangle. Yessirree they do. Piquet Jr started on the pole but to cut this report short he didn’t finish there. Joey Coulter won followed by Buescher, Piquet, Crafty Matt and Double Duty Denny. WYG finished 6th, Handsome finished 19th and the rest you can look up. TP is the points leader 8 points over WYG and the rest of the points you can look up too.
Later that day the Nationwide Series hit the track in Iowa. Curly Sadler led the field over Darrell Wallace, Jr, WOG, Leffler and Allgaier. Ryan Blaney started 13th and the rest you can look up. 250 laps at Iowa is always crazy to our way of thinkin’ and Duck and I were real excited to see some of those new racers doin’ so well. Even that Johanna Long girl was racin’ ahead of Danica most of that race. Duck and I were wowin’ all over the place about that and that Coach Joe new sensation Darrell Wallace, Jr took the lead immediately and held it the announcers said for 36 laps. Duck and I thought he led for 50 but what do we know? Course when the TV coverage is showin’ the cars racin’ for 15th through 20th, or what the heck ever, it’s hard to know what’s happenin’ up front for cryin’ out loud. Sorry there but, uh, Duck and I wanted to see the leaders. Didn’t you? Anyway long story short as I promised Curly Sadler won! YEAH for him! Allgaier, Sam the Man, Annett and Stenhouse Jr filled the next top spots and that Wallace Jr boy finished 7th. That makes 2 top 10 finishes in his 2 Nationwide starts. WOW WEE there young man. Duck and I were woohooin’ for you too! And Blaney’s boy finished 10th. Those boys and that girl are gonna be big! Curly is still the points leader 18 points over WOG and the rest you can look up.
Sunday the Cup race was rain delayed for an hour and half which previewed what sadly was to come there at Pocono. JuanToya started on the pole followed by Double Duty Denny, Menard, Kutie Kahne and Aussie Ambrose. The rest you can look up. Jr started 8th which was great cause his team had to change his transmission after practices. That boy was a rocket ship let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now. Why he was leadin’ that race in no time and led for 17 laps, but of course stuff happens. After his first pit stop, I believe it was, he lost 3rd and 4th gear and lost 18 laps in the garage gettin’ another transmission change. Course we all thought he had lost the points lead to Robo after that but nobody on God’s green earth can say Pocono isn’t one wild and crazy track. Before I get to the the rest of the results let me say Jeffie Boy was one fast rascal too and won that race. Course it was rain shortened by 62 laps but a win is a win and good for him I say! Now all 4 Hendrick drivers have won this season. Good for all of ’em I say. Course Duck and I think stuff would have been way different if JR hadn”t had his problems but if wishes were horses we’d all need great big ol’ umbrellas. Know what I mean? But enough of that stuff. Anyway Kutie Kahne finished 2nd followed by Truex, Jr, G/B Brad and Smoke. Flippin’ Carl finished 7th and that seemed like a win for him to Duck and I, so considerin’ that days events we were satisfied. The rest you can look up.
Now for one weird one somethin’. Everybody figured JR lost the points lead to Robo after that gear stuff but real late like in the race NSCJBMAS and Robo wrecked which some amazin’ way or another points figurin’s somethin’ or another makes JR still the leader by 5 pints! Who knew and who even knows how? I mean, uh, oh my good and gracious LORD that was amazin’! Woohoo and please pass that pan! So while Jeffie was inside a buildin’ celebratin’ JR was somewhere doin’ a bit of that too.
And then somewhere outside of the grandstands tragedy was happenin’ sadly. Oh my good and gracious LORD our hearts are still so heay. Just comfort ’em LORD we ask in your son’s name. Amen!
And the only other stuff I’m gonna mention is A.J.Allmendinger. Roger Penske fired him after his failed”B” test. Course big business is big business we all know and sponsors write the checks so they own the purse strings too. I mean that is just a cold hard fact right here, folks. Sometimes owners have to do what they don’t want to. But looka here folks. A.J. is in rehab and maybe, just maybe, when he completes this stage of career salvagein’ someone will be willin’ to take a chance with him again. I sure hope so and here’s hopin’ he takes this serious like and learns from other’s misfortunes. And there have surely been at least a few. Know what I mean?
So there ya have it for what it’s worth. This time don’t email pretty please cause I am just a very frazzled women today. You can comment though. Granny and Duck over and out.
