Joey Logano won the 63rd annual Toyota Owners 400. The win marks his 18th victory in 300 starts in the Monster Energy Cup Series. Logano was forced to move to the back of the pack prior to the start of the race for a transmission change. Logano took the lead from Kyle Larson on lap 383 and quickly jumped to a 1.5-second lead. This was his first victory and his ninth top-10 of the 2017 season.
Brad Keselowski finished second after leading the race several times. This makes Keselowski’s seventh top-10 finish in 16 races at Richmond and his seventh top-10 finish in 2017. The field bottled up on the restart and it left Keselowski stuck behind some cars. “By the time I cleared those guys, even though we were a little bit faster than Joey, he already had a straightaway on us,” Keselowski stated in his post race interview.
To wrap up the top three, Denny Hamlin finished third scoring his 13th top-10 finish in 22 races at Richmond. Hamlin started 16th in the field. Hamlin led 3 times for a total of 56 laps and was the Mobile 1 Driver of the race.
