BRISTOL, Tenn. – NASCAR XFINITY Series regular Justin Allgaier will sub for driver Michael Annett who is experiencing flu- like symptoms in tonight’s 56th annual Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
Annett qualified his No. 46 Pilot Flying J / Battle at Bristol Chevrolet SS 39th Friday afternoon, which means Allgaier will lose just one position as he’ll be forced to drop to the rear of the field prior to the start of the race for the driver change.
It’s been a good weekend for Allgaier at the “World’s Fastest-Half Mile.” In Friday night’s Food City 300 at Bristol, Allgaier used a restart in overtime to vault his No. 7 BRANDT Chevrolet to a runner-up finish in a race won by Austin Dillon.
It’s not surprising that Allgaier was tapped to drive Annett’s No. 46 Chevrolet for HScott Motorsports. Between 2013 and 2015, Allgaier drove 75 Sprint Cup races for car owner Harry Scott Jr., earning a career-best eighth place result at Bristol in the spring event in 2015.
Entering Bristol, Annett is 37th in Sprint Cup points with a season-best 20th at Daytona International Speedway last month.
