Never-Before-Seen Artifacts and Photos Celebrate the Success of NASCAR Cup Series’ Winningest Team
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 7, 2024) – NASCAR Hall of Fame today debuted “Hendrick Motorsports 40 Years,” an exhibit presented by NAPA Auto Parts that showcases the history of Hendrick Motorsports. Founded in 1984 by the legendary Rick Hendrick, Hendrick Motorsports is the winningest NASCAR Cup Series organization in the sport’s history, winning 310 NASCAR Cup Series races and 14 championships (as of July 21, 2024) – more than any other team.
“The NASCAR Hall of Fame represents the pinnacle of our sport,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “Their team has worked tirelessly to create something truly unique for our fans, and it’s been a privilege for us to be involved in the process. On behalf of our entire organization, thank you to everyone who has put so much passion into this project. From the DAYTONA 500 to the Brickyard 400 and everything in between, it’s been a very special year to celebrate. To now have a Hall of Fame exhibit dedicated to our 40th anniversary is incredibly humbling.”
The exhibit makes the organization’s extraordinary history come alive by providing an in-depth look at the race team and the people who built it. The team’s milestones from its earliest days to the current 2024 season are showcased through the artifacts and photographs, many of which have never been seen by the public.
“The NASCAR Hall of Fame is proud to serve as the recognized home for honoring NASCAR’s legends, history, celebrated heritage, and family-oriented traditions – all of these attributes are embodied by Rick and Linda Hendrick and the incredible dynasty they have built at Hendrick Motorsports,” said Winston Kelley, Executive Director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “In 2005-2006, Mr. H served as Chair of the local organizing committee that ultimately secured the Charlotte region as the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. We are honored that he, Linda and so many at Hendrick Motorsports have entrusted us with countless, priceless artifacts over the years and now with the opportunity to help celebrate their legacy and unparalleled success. Not only has the team made NASCAR history over the last 40 years with more Cup Series wins than any other team, but its forward-thinking leadership and innovation, along with legendary Hall of Fame drivers, crew chiefs and mechanics, have helped make the sport the international success it has become.”
Six cars, six 80-inch video monitors, descriptive graphic panels, more than 75 individual artifacts and 160 photographs comprise the exhibit, which will be on display through May 2025.
