With NASCAR set to return to the track this weekend at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, the sanctioning body unveiled Thursday its second installment of rescheduled races from May 30 through June 21 set to be conducted without fans in attendance.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Cup Series will visit the .0533-mile Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway on May 30 and May 31st with both series running abbreviated race distances.
From Bristol, NASCAR heads to Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway to host its rescheduled races from March. The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series will be hosted on June 6 in a doubleheader with the Xfinity Series with the NASCAR Cup Series slated for a June 7 running.
Martinsville (Va.) Speedway will see its Mother Day weekend Cup race switched to a mid-week Cup race on June 10 before heading south to Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway for a pair of doubleheaders with Trucks and Xfinity on Sat. June 13 with Xfinity joining Cup for a double-dose of activity on Sun., June 14.
The last revised schedule weeks sees the return of the ARCA Menards Series who has been dormant since Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway in March at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in another doubleheader with the NASCAR Xfinity Series on June 20th.
A 500-mile NASCAR Cup Series race will be run at the historic Alabama Superspeedway on Sun. June 21.
“As we prepare for our return to racing at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, the industry has been diligent in building the return-to-racing schedule,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer.
“We are eager to expand our schedule while continuing to work closely with the local governments in each of the areas we will visit. We thank the many government officials for their guidance, as we share the same goal in our return – the safety for our competitors and the communities in which we race.”
NASCAR also announced Thursday that events originally scheduled at Kansas Speedway (May 30 – 31), Michigan International Speedway (June 5 – 7), the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (May 30) and the Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway slated for June 5 have been postponed.
The NASCAR national series races at Iowa Speedway have been canceled for the 2020 season, while the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at Martinsville and Iowa Speedway has also been axed for 2020.
The NASCAR Xfinity race at Iowa Speedway scheduled for June 13 has been realigned to Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, June 14. Further Iowa Speedway realignment dates (secondary Xfinity race, Trucks and ARCA) will be announced in the future.
The remainder of the adjusted schedule for all NASCAR series will be announced at a later date.
