BRISTOL, Tenn: After an unexpected recent departure as president of Trackhouse Racing, longtime industry veteran Ty Norris has landed at Kaulig Racing, the organization confirmed Friday.
Norris has been appointed as the team’s Chief Business Officer and will work alongside team owner Matt Kaulig and team president Chris Rice.
“Today Kaulig Racing announces the addition of NASCAR industry veteran Ty Norris to the team. Norris will serve as the team’s Chief Business Officer, focusing on partnerships and long-term strategy alongside owner Matt Kaulig and team President Chris Rice.
“Bringing Norris and his wealth of knowledge to the executive team is one of several major moves Kaulig and Rice are making to solidify the trajectory of its NASCAR Cup Series program well into the future.”
Norris is best known for his executive responsibilities at Dale Earnhardt Inc. (DEI) from 1996 through 2004. He left the organization for a brief stint with Speedway Motorsports Inc., before landing at Michael Waltrip Racing in 2025, where he spent nearly a decade in an executive role with the multicar organization.
After MWR’s demise in 2013 following the ‘SpingGate’ scandal, at Richmond (Va.) Raceway, which saw Norris briefly indefinitely suspended for his role in the scheme, he landed at Spire Sports + Entertainment.
In 2021, Norris joined Trackhouse Racing and assisted Justin Marks in growing the organization after purchasing the assets of Chip Ganassi Racing.
“We greatly appreciate the role Ty Norris has played in the creation and growth of Trackhouse Racing,” founder Justin Marks said. “We have a bright and exciting future thanks to his
contributions. We wish our friend the best of luck.”
The Athletic first reported Norris’ exit from Trackhouse Racing.
