Greetings from sunny and warm California! I won’t bother to apologize for how long it has taken me to get to this column as the is no excuse!
Previously I wrote about not only how much God loves us but I felt like I skirted around how much we are pretty much commanded to love Him! Consider that He created us to have fellowship with Him and created everything else for our pleasure. Continuing in the book of Mathew chapter 6 we read:
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (clothing or outward appearance)
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are ye not much better than they?
Do we spit in the face of those who take care of us and provide for us out of love for us, I think not! We all know there are those who don’t like people who use others to get their own way or things they want. But we don’t like them or the way they act. The LORD has provided for us all as an expression of how much He loves us and all He asks in return is we love Him and believe in HIM! He did not say Love me and then I will do for you He loved us first then asked us to love Him in return. He has told us “I am a jealous God” I don’t think we comprehend this. He is not speaking of this silly petty kind of jealousy we have. This is a much stronger and better kind of jealousy it is hard to understand fully but it comes from There is only one true God and He could have made us puppets if He wished but instead gave us free will to love Him or not. But if we reject Him then we are rejecting all He has given us thus His type of Jealousy can take it all away in a moment if He wishes.
If your child throws every gift or good thing you give them back in your face will you not stop bringing those gifts? So to God gives us the right to reject Him but don’t expect Him to let you get away with throwing it back at Him forever!
Read those verses above again for the first time with understanding.
