Pataskala, Ohio (17 March 2024) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) is excited to partner with Folds of Honor – a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of US military service members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled while serving our country and communities – during the Thermal Club INDYCAR Grand Prix race weekend March 21-23.
As MSR heads into the second NTT INDYCAR SERIES race weekend of the season, the team looks forward to hosting 500 veterans and first responders as well as families of fallen veterans and first responders for an exciting weekend of INDYCAR action. Through this collaboration, MSR aims to honor the sacrifices of these brave individuals by providing them with an unforgettable race day experience, complete with behind-the-scenes access, up-close views of the team’s INDYCAR operation, and an opportunity to connect with MSR drivers Felix Rosenqvist and Marcus Armstrong.
“Supporting our military and first responders is something that my family as well as Jim Meyer and his family value deeply”; said Mike Shank, co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing. “Partnering with Folds of Honor is an incredible opportunity for us to give back and recognize the service of these heroes and hopefully for them to have a little fun and see some competitive racing. We’re honored to welcome them to the track and share our passion for racing with them”.
Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has provided about 62,000 academic scholarships for nearly $290 million for families of fallen or disabled US military service members and first responders and has set an all-time awards record for the 2024-25 academic year with about 10,000 scholarships for nearly $50 million. The educational scholarships support private school tuition in grades K-12, tuition for college, technical or trade school and post-graduate work.
“We are grateful to Meyer Shank Racing and its outstanding team for supporting Folds of Honor and our recipients during the Thermal Club INDYCAR Grand Prix,” said Lt Col Dan Rooney, founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. INDYCAR, its affiliated teams and its fans have a long history of patriotism and honoring American heroes. MSR understands the importance of an education and is doing something about it. They are making a life-changing difference.”
“We’re thrilled to work with Meyer Shank Racing on this initiative with Folds of Honor to host veterans and their families with an unforgettable experience to get up close to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.” said The Thermal Club Owner, Tim Rogers. “We can’t wait to host the group at our beautiful race track and grounds here at The Thermal Club.”
Meyer Shank Racing’s involvement with Folds of Honor is part of the team’s broader effort to support military families and first responders. The team looks forward to hosting this incredible group of individuals at The Thermal Club and providing them with a weekend to remember.
