LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR) driver Austin Theriault was transported to a local Nevada hospital following a scary crash in Saturday night’s Rhino Linings 350.
The accident occurred on Lap 14 when Theriault’s teammate Tyler Reddick lost control of his No. 19 Ford in Turn 4 and spun into the path of Theriault.
The two trucks touched with the impact from Reddick shooting Theriault’s No. 29 Ford directly head-on into the frontstretch wall.
The point of impact was a concrete wall and not protected by the SAFER barrier.
Theriault took his time climbing from his mangled machine, where he laid against the driver’s door upon exiting. A short time later, Theriault was placed into an ambulance on a backboard.
Moments after the field took the green flag on Lap 25, Theriault was loaded into a helicopter and flown to a local hospital for further evaluation.
An update on Theriault’s Facebook page just after 8:00 p.m. (local) noted that he was coherent and communicating and was taken to the local hospital for testing and evaluation.
