LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Bobby Pierce, the dirt track phenomenon that turned heads with a superb runner-up performance on the dirt at Eldora Speedway in July for MB Motorsports will soon make his return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Pierce, 18, will drive the No. 63 Ford on October 31 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway for his asphalt NASCAR debut in the Kroger 200.
MB Motorsports truck owner Mike Mittler confirmed the news to CATCHFENCE.com
“We’re excited about it,” said Mittler. “He did such a great job at Eldora and then ran that Late Model car at Hickory and ran really good there. He’s excited, we’re excited to get him back in the seat and further his career in the next step of asphalt racing.”
Pierce, a native of Oakwood, Illinois recently tested and raced a JR Motorsports Late Model after Eldora at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.
Considered one of the brightest upcoming dirt track racers in the country, Pierce wowed NASCAR Nation when he captured the 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic pole and battled Christopher Bell for their first career NCWTS victory.
While Bell captured the victory at Eldora for Kyle Busch Motorsports, Pierce’s ability to manhandle a truck and contend for the win with a team that works on a rustic budget left many wondering if he would be able to duplicate the success elsewhere.
The question will soon be answered.
Mittler said more NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races are possible in the future, but nothing past Martinsville has been set in stone.
“Well obviously he’s old enough to run all the events,” added Mittler. “We’d like to move up the ladder as quick as we can. We think he has the talent and he’s interested in going NASCAR racing, so we’re trying to make it happen with him.”
