BRISTOL, Tenn: McAnally-Hilgemann Racing announced this week in a partnership with HendrickCars.com that winged sprint car phenom Corey Day will make his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series debut beginning with Thursday night’s UNOH 200 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.
Day, a native of Clovis, Calif. will also compete in the ARCA Menards Series Bush’s Beans 200 at Bristol in a second entry for Pinnacle Racing Group (PRG.).
Following his Truck Series debut in Thunder Valley, Day will return to the Truck Series scene next weekend at Kansas Speedway on Sept. 27, followed by Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway on Oct. 26th and the penultimate Truck Series race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway on Fri., Nov. 1.
Day will drive the No. 81 Chevrolet at Bristol and Martinsville, a fifth-entry for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing but pilot the team’s No. 91 Chevrolet at Kansas and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the elite talents in winged sprint car competition and is quickly capturing some of the sport’s most prestigious prizes. Day recently notched his biggest career victory in the $100,000-to-win Trophy Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. in the High Limit Racing sprint car series.
He has seven wins in 46 races with High Limit Racing thus far in 2024 and is currently fifth in the series standings.
Day has already earned numerous accolades on his resume, including a preliminary Chili Bowl feature win, becoming the youngest USAC National Midget feature winner, and winning the World of Outlaws.
Chad Norris will oversee Day’s efforts.
“I’m excited to make my start in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series,” Day said. “I haven’t made many non-dirt racing starts but I’m ready to begin learning more about this type of racing.
“I know I will face some challenges, but I feel confident in my ability to learn and I know that I have great support behind me with HendrickCars.com and McAnally-Hilgemann Racing. I just hope to represent them well.”
McAnally-Hilgemann Racing co-owner Bill McAnally feels honored to be the organization that is part of Day’s foray into NASCAR.
McAnally said, “We can’t wait to see what Corey can do in one of our Chevrolet Silverados.”
“It’s clear to see the raw talent and speed that he has in a sprint car, and we’re excited to help him get acclimated to NASCAR racing. Corey has shown to be a quick learner in his career and we’re looking forward to him joining our team in these four races.”
