LAS VEGAS, Nev.: Four NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series teams were slapped with a 10-points deficit ahead of Friday night’s race at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.
The teams of Tyler Ankrum, Matt Crafton, Grant Enfinger and Johnny Sauter were issued L1 penalties during opening day inspection on Thursday. The violation was surrounding the engine oil reservoir tank.
The specific rule said, “Aerodynamic panels not permitted/engine oil reservoir tank mounting brackets | supports.”
The infraction cost each team 10 points issued to both the driver and the team owner.
Enfinger won last weekend’s season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and will have a one-point lead over Austin Hill entering race two of the season.
In practice on Friday, Sauter ended up second quickest overall, Crafton sixth, Enfinger ninth, and Ankrum 13th.
Friday night’s STRAT 200 will begin at 9:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
