HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway fall winner Grant Enfinger stole the thunder from Chevrolet’s Stewart Friesen to win the pole for Friday night’s Ford EcoBoost 200 at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
Enfinger topped the final round of Friday’s knockout qualifying with an average lap speed of 169.348 mph to claim his second pole of 2018 and third of his Truck Series career.
The two-time Truck Series winner qualified for the Truck playoffs but was eliminated from title contention following ISM Raceway last weekend.
Championship 4 contenders Noah Gragson, Justin Haley, Brett Moffitt and Johnny Sauter qualified third through sixth respectively. The highest finishing driver in tonight’s 134-lap race will be crowed the 2018 Truck Series champion.
Ross Chastain, John Hunter Nemechek, Jesse Little and Chris Windom driving for DGR-CROSLEY rounded out the top-10.
Other notables in the field include: 2018 ARCA champion Sheldon Creed (13th), Harrison Burton (14th), Todd Gilliland (15th), Jeb Burton (21st), Matt Crafton (22nd), Austin Wayne Self (24th), Tanner Thorson (26th), Jennifer Jo Cobb (28th) and Justin Fontaine in his final Truck Series race (31st).
33 trucks were originally entered for the 32-truck starting field, but Todd Peck crashed during the series’ first practice Friday morning. With significant damage and no backup truck, Copp Motorsports withdrew their No. 83 Chevrolet from the event.
Chase Briscoe, the defending champion of the Ford EcoBoost 200 is not entered.
