The award for bringing NASCAR drivers out of retirement in 2020 goes to Niece Motorsports.
The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGROTS) team announced today that 2012 Truck Series champion James Buescher will drive for the team in next Sunday’s SpeedyCash.com 400 on Oct. 25.
Buescher will drive a Chevrolet Silverado-backed by FHE FracLock.
The FracLock system is a combination of new technologies that makes well sites safer, more efficient, and lowers the cost of operations. This innovation redefines frac.
“I am thankful for everyone at Niece Motorsports and FHE for believing in me and providing me this opportunity to get back behind the wheel and once again showcase my talents,” said Buescher.
“When I exited the sport back in 2015, it was not on my own terms. We had a lot going on at home in 2015, sometimes you have to take a step back and pay attention to God’s plan for your life.
“Right now, everything has fallen into place to come back and race at my home track at Texas Motor Speedway, and I could not be more excited!”
Buescher has made 10 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway delivering five top-10 finishes along the way.
The 30-year-old has never finished outside the top-20 from 2009 to 2013.
Although he hasn’t competed in a NASCAR race in five years, Buescher says he’s ready.
“It’s going to be challenging after more than five years away from racing,” added Buescher.
But I am up for the challenge and can’t wait for the green flag to drop.”
A native of Plano, Tex., Buescher is a six-time winner in the Truck Series, including four in his championship season eight years ago.
Overall, the former NASCAR Xfinity Series winner has also produced 31 top-five and 62 top-five runs in 119 starts.
In addition to Buescher, Niece Motorsports has also revived former NASCAR drivers Trevor Bayne and Travis Pastrana from retirement to compete in Truck Series races this season.
