Daniel Suarez (@dnlsuarez), eyed as one of NASCAR’s future superstars, will make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway next weekend. He will drive the No. 35 Toyota Tundra for Win-Tron Racing.
In a collaborative effort with Joe Gibbs Racing, Suarez’s entry will be sponsored by ARRIS in next Saturday’s fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola.
The former NASCAR Next member has spent this season building himself as a household name in the United States, between the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) and the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Suarez won the first two NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events this season driving the No. 6 Toyota Camry for Rev Racing.
Additionally, the 22-year old made his debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in May at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway driving the No. 20 Silent Cirlce / Telcel Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He made an additional start for RAB Racing with Brack Maggard at Chicagoland Speedway in September, finishing 15th.
Last month, Suarez, a current competitor in the NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series made his intermediate track debut at Kentucky Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards penultimate race. Driving the No. 66 ARRIS Toyota Camry for the potent Venturini Motorsports team. In what also was his ARCA debut, Suarez led 39 laps before finishing fifth, after starting third.
Joe Gibbs Racing recently announced that Suarez will compete full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY (now Nationwide) Series next season with ARRIS backing. Furthermore, Suarez will also contest in select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races, as he aims to accelerate his learning curve.
Suarez isn’t the only winner heading to the 2.66-mile superspeedway next weekend. The announcement is a huge opportunity for Win-Tron Racing, often dubbed a successful development organization. The team’s No. 35 ride became available, after Sunoco rookie Mason Mingus left the organization following New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“We’re ecstatic to establish this partnership with Daniel (Suarez) and Joe Gibbs Racing for Talladega,” said Win-Tron Racing co-owner Nate Thiesse. “Daniel firmly represents everything that Win-Tron Racing is made of and we feel that he’ll excel in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut.”
Win-Tron Racing has a guaranteed starting spot for the race, allowing Suarez to focus on comfort and maneuverability in his restrictor plate debut. Mark Rette will serve as crew chief for Suarez in the 18th race of the season.
The craft of restrictor plate racing is something that Suarez is yet to experience, yet his ability to catch onto new challenges quickly should play into his hands behind the wheel of the No. 35 ARRIS Toyota Tundra. Suarez though must use the opportunity with Win-Tron Racing to his fullest advantage, digesting the do’s and don’ts of NASCAR’s most mental challenging races, before he’s handed the reins of a full-time XFINIITY ride, which includes three rounds of restrictor plate tangles.
CATCHFENCE.com has learned that Joe Gibbs Racing is also considering running Suarez in the 2015 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season-opener next February, likely with Venturini Motorsports, who caters to Joe Gibbs Racing development drivers.
