WASHINGTON, DC — NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series driver Rajah Caruth, in collaboration with Microsoft and GM Motorsports, will officially launch the “How STEM Leads to Speed: Racing with Rajah” powered by Microsoft curriculum on Friday, January 31, at 11 AM at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC. This groundbreaking initiative aims to inspire students through STEM education, motorsports, and technology, equipping them with critical AI skills and personal development tools.
During the launch event, an overview of the curriculum will be provided, featuring remarks from Microsoft, GM Motorsports, and other key partners. Caruth will personally address 100 DC Public Schools (DCPS) students, sharing his journey from virtual racing to the NASCAR circuit. Students will also get an up-close experience with racing technology through a simulator demonstration and an exclusive look at Caruth’s Chevy Silverado show car. Following the event, students will head to the Washington, DC Auto Show for an immersive motorsports and STEM experience.
“This curriculum is about more than just racing—it’s about unlocking opportunities in STEM, motorsports, and beyond,” said Rajah Caruth. “Partnering with Microsoft and GM Motorsports allows us to give students hands-on learning experiences that show how innovation and technology drive success, both on the track and in life.”
The “How STEM Leads to Speed: Racing with Rajah” curriculum is designed for middle and high school students and is available on Microsoft Learn. The interactive program explores STEM applications in motorsports, from engineering and AI-driven race strategies to vehicle mechanics and data analysis. Students will also be introduced to career paths in motorsports, including drivers, engineers, data analysts, media professionals, pit crew members, and more.
“Working with Rajah on this curriculum has been an incredible experience,” said Darrell Booker, Corporate Affairs Specialist at Microsoft. “We are helping shape the future of not only the motorsports industry but also the next generation of STEM leaders.”
DC Public Library will be among the first to implement this curriculum using a grant from the DC Public Library Foundation. In the library setting, students’ natural fascination with racing and technology drives deeper engagement with STEM concepts as they work alongside peers and mentors. This approach, where personal passion fuels academic discovery in a community environment, exemplifies how the program can work in both formal and informal learning settings.
The curriculum will also be introduced in over 20 Microsoft Best Buy Teen Tech Centers and made available to nonprofit partners nationwide. Key collaborators include eNASCAR, NASCAR Hall of Fame Foundation, iRacing, Community, RCX Sports Foundation, and the Urban Youth Racing School.
Rajah Caruth, recently named NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Most Popular Driver, will return to Spire Motorsports in 2025 to compete for the Truck Series Championship in the No. 71 Chevrolet Silverado. HendrickCars.com will continue as his primary sponsor following a breakout 2024 season, where he secured his first career win, two pole awards, five top-five finishes, and 12 top-10 finishes.
A 2024 graduate of Winston-Salem State University’s Motorsports Management program, Caruth continues to break barriers and inspire the next generation of drivers and innovators.
