Natalie Decker who became the highest female finisher in NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series earlier this season has added the upcoming Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway race on May 26 to her Niece Motorsports schedule.
“I am so ready to be back racing again, it feels like it’s been forever,” said Decker.
“It makes me so very happy I got to add Charlotte to my schedule, especially because it’s going to be the first truck race back.”
The Truck Series has been idle since the coronavirus pandemic halted NASCAR’s top three national series in March.
Decker, 23, has run both Truck Series events this season with a fifth place in the season-opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February followed by a 21st place run at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway a week later.
With her first career top-five (and top-10) finish at Daytona, Decker surpassed Jennifer Jo Cobb as the highest finishing female in a NASCAR Gander RV & Truck Series race. Cobb finished sixth at Daytona in 2011.
She is 16th in the championship standings. The Eagle River, Wisc. native is set to run a limited schedule with Niece Motorsports this year.
Her truck number for her second attempt at Charlotte’s 1.5-mile speedway was not announced. She finished 31st last May at Charlotte exiting the event after 32 laps because of an accident.
Decker will continue to have support from longtime partner N29 Capital Partners with additional support from Remarkable Pillow and Zymox.
“I am so grateful for the ongoing support of these amazing companies and I’m pumped to get their names out in front of the fans again,” added Decker.
