JOLIET, Illinois – Persistent rain forced postponement of Friday night’s Lucas Oil 225 at Chicagoland Speedway.
The race has been rescheduled to start Saturday evening following the NASCAR Nationwide Series Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast 300 at 6:00 p.m. (Central) live on FOX Sports 2.
NASCAR officials made the decision shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Rain drenched the 1.5-mile concrete oval early Friday afternoon washing out Truck Series qualifying, the final NASCAR Nationwide Series practice and qualifying for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series race. Johnny Sauter and Brennan Newberry will share the front-row for the sixth annual event based on their cumulative practice speeds from Thursday.
Tickets for Friday night’s race will be honored Saturday beginning at 3:00 p.m. (thirty minutes after start of NASCAR Nationwide Series race) Central. Grandstand gates and parking lots will open at regularly scheduled hours Saturday.
