Red Horse Racing, one of the powerhouse two-truck organizations in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has suspended operations, effective immediately, due to lack of funding.
“I tried as long as I could but I can’t keep funding it out of my own pocket,” Red Horse Racing owner Tom DeLoach told Motorsport.com. “We’ve tried as best as we could but I’ve finally decided I may be building a bridge to no where.”
Red Horse Racing owner Tom DeLoach has competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series since 2005 and has amassed 532 starts with 16 wins, 112 top-five and 236 top-10 finishes.
Timothy Peters has been a staple driver for the organization and has made up 10 of those 16 wins.
Following this past Friday’s N.C. Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, where Peters and second-truck driver Brett Mofffit finished fifth and 18th respectively, both drivers sat inside the top-10 in the championship standings.
DeLoach, a former executive at Mobil Oil Corporations said he’s sill looking for potential partners and or funding to keep the operation going. The Mooresville, N.C. laid off 30 employees along with Moffitt and Peters.
“I’m still looking, but I’ve told the guys if they could find employment elsewhere, don’t let us hold you back,” DeLoach said.
In 13 years of operations, Red Horse finished a career-high second in the championship standings in 2012 with Peters.
Bummed to say the least but I appreciate the opportunity @TCDeLoachJr gave me to race for him and get my first national series win. Thankyou
