TRICON Garage announced Thursday that Tanner Gray will return to the organization for his fifth consecutive season of competition in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series in 2024.
Gray, the grandson of TRICON majority owner Johnny Gray, will continue to pilot the No. 15 Toyota Tundra Pro for the Mooresville, N.C. team next season.
The 24-year-old Gray completed his fourth season of Truck Series competition this past Friday night at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway and earned his sixth top-10 finish of the year with a ninth-place effort in the CRAFTSMAN 150.
“I am grateful to be back at TRICON for another year in 2024 with my guys on the No. 15 truck,” said Gray. “I really feel like going into next year, we will be better, more prepared and have a greater understanding of what we need to do to execute.
“My biggest focus is on making sure I am getting better every day, and I am excited for what lies ahead.”
The former National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) champion still seeks his first win on the tour despite delivering a career-best second-place finish in the rain-shortened Truck Series race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February.
He finished 14th in the championship standings this season, matching his inaugural Truck Series season in 2020. Overall, Gray produced one pole at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway, three top-five and six top-10 finishes overall and a career-high 26 laps led.
Gray is the third full-time driver to return to the David Gilliland-led empire in 2024. Recently, the team announced that Championship 4 contender Corey Heim will return to pilot the No. 11 Toyota Tundra Pro next season.
Dean Thompson, the former ARCA Menards Series West standout, will also return to the organization for his second season after flourishing throughout the year with speed. Thompson will continue to steer the No. 5 Toyota Tundra Pro for the 23-race campaign.
Gray’s younger brother, Taylor, piloted the team’s No. 17 Toyota entry for the majority of the 2023 season. Still, the Truck Series powerhouse has not announced its plans for the No. 17 or the team’s No. 1 Toyota truck, which saw an influx of drivers throughout the 10-month season.
The 2024 Truck Series season begins on Fri., February 16, 2024, with its annual trip to the “World Center of Racing” at Daytona for the Fresh From Florida 250 live on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
