DOVER, Del. – Former Red Horse Racing driver Timothy Peters has secured a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) ride for next Friday night’s Rattlesnake 400 at Texas Motor Speedway driving the No. 99 Chevrolet for MDM Racing, CATCHFENCE.com has confirmed.
Peters’ 192-race consecutive streak of competing in a Truck Series event will end in Friday’s Bar Harbor 200 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway after the Providence, N.C. native was unable to find a ride after the sudden and abrupt closure of Red Horse Racing on May 22.
MDM Motorsports has fielded a Truck Series effort a number of different drivers this season including Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Brandon Jones and Travis Miller. The team also fields entries in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East where they have been victorious with driver Harrison Burton in each series respectively.
Peters will be reunited with former RHR crew chief Shane Huffman who oversees MDM’s truck series program. Last year, Peters and Huffman tallied eight top-five and 16 top-10 finishes and was one of the final four championship contenders at Homestead-Miami Speedway – finishing ninth and earning fourth in the final championship standings.
“I’m looking forward to working with Timothy again,” said Huffman. “I feel we can pick up right up where we left off last year and complete for a top-five next weekend. This relationship is a win-win for MDM and Timothy and we’re to go.”
In 13 years of competition in Trucks, Peters has amassed 235 career starts, 10 wins, 57 top-five and 121 top-10 finishes. At Texas, he has 18 starts with one top five and five top-10 finishes with an average finish of 14.3.
He currently is tied for fifth in the championship standings ahead of Friday’s sixth race of the season.
