Roush Fenway Racing will debut a new sponsor for driver Chris Buescher in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway, CATCHFENCE.com has learned.
Humalong®, also recognized as Insulin lispro (injection) will back Buescher’s No. 60 Ford Mustang in the Ford EcoBoost 300.
Humalong® is part of the Eli Lilly and Company family, which sponsors Buescher’s teammate Ryan Reed full-time in the No. 16 Ford Mustang. Humalong® is used to treat people with diabetes for the control of high blood sugar.
Currently, the partnership is a one-race deal for the 34th race of the season, although sources say that Roush Fenway Racing is hopeful that the company will expand its relationship with the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards champion in 2015.
Buescher, a 22-year old Nationwide rookie will wrap up his first year on the tour at the Southern Florida racetrack on Saturday. He will make his debut at the 1.5-mile speedway in his 41st career NNS start.
Despite missing the season-opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February, the Prosper, Texas native secures seventh in the championship standings with one win, four top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes. Buescher notched his lone victory of the season at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington this past August.
Team officials confirmed to CATCHFENCE.com that Buescher is expected to return for another full season slate, in what will become the NASCAR XFINITY Series next year. Sponsorship for his sophomore season are still being finalized.
