NASCAR owner and driver Josh Reaume was indefinitely suspended Tuesday by NASCAR and will likely be required to attend sensitivity training before his reinstatement.
Reaume, 30, a part-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series this season, was suspended for an apparent anti-Semitic post recently published on one of his social media platforms and violated Sections 12.1 and 12.8.1.e of the NASCAR Rule Book.
The Rule Book’s Section 12.1 defines general disciplinary action, while 12.8.1. expands specific items regarding NASCAR member conduct. 12.8.1.e,: “NASCAR Members shall not make or cause to be made public statement and | or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age or handicapping condition.”
Reaume, a native of Redlands, Calif. participated in last Friday night’s Truck Series season finale at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway, starting 31st and finishing 33rd after a series of mechanical issues in the Lucas Oil 150. Overall, he made two starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this fall for Mike Harmon Racing and RSS Racing and 12 in Trucks.
His best effort this year was a 17th at Michigan International Speedway in August.
Reaume also owns Reaume Bros. Racing which fields the No. 00 and No. 33 Chevrolets in NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series competition.
Additionally, Reaume Bros. Racing also handled the day-to-day operations and preparations of RSS Racing’s second car, the No. 93 which was primarily driven by Myatt Snider this season.
In his NASCAR national series career since 2013, Reaume has one top-10 finish in 87 combined Truck and Xfinity starts. He earned a career-best sixth in the 2019 Truck Series opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
Reaume issued a statement late Tuesday night.
