SPARTA, Ky: JR Motorsports driver Justin Allgaier was released early Friday morning from a local Sparta, Ky. area hospital after being evaluated following his last-lap crash in Thursday night’s Shady Rays 200 at Kentucky Speedway.
His team, JR Motorsports tweeted, “Justin Allgaier was treated and released from a local hospital early this morning for non-racing related medical purposes following last night’s event at Kentucky Speedway.
He will undergo further evaluation today before being cleared to race.”
Just after 1:00 p.m. ET Friday, JR Motorsports tweeted again that Allgaier had been cleared to compete in Friday night’s Alsco 300 after completing a medical evaluation for a non-racing related issue.

Allgaier had a rough two laps to conclude the Shady Rays 200.
While contending for a top-10 finish, Allgaier appeared to lose control of his car on the backstretch in NASCAR overtime at Kentucky while battling Ronnie Bassett Jr.
Before the contact with Bassett, he was sitting fourth on the restart with two laps to go, but contact between teammate Noah Gragson and Allgaier sent the Riverton, Ill. native plummeting through the field.
As the cars roared on the backstretch heading to the checkered flag, Allgaier trying to salvage a top-10 finish broke loose underneath Bassett where the two connected and sent Allgaier into the outside wall, while Bassett made hard contact with the inside wall.
Timmy Hill and Kody Vanderwal were also collected.
Allgaier was able to drop the window net at the scene of the accident indicating he was OK to the safety team, but upon further review from the infield care center, the 11-time Xfinity Series winner was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
His JRM team has gone to a backup for tonight’s 200-lap race meaning Allgaier will be forced to start the race from the rear of the field.
The Alsco 300 – the second race of the Xfinity Series doubleheader weekend will take the green shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET. live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
