NASCAR has adjusted the start time for Tuesday’s Toyota 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway to 6:00 p.m. ET because of the continuous threat of inclement weather.
The fifth of the Xfinity Series season was scheduled to have begun at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The race will air live on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90.
Daytona winner Noah Gragson will start on the pole by a qualifying draw alongside his JR Motorsports teammate Michael Annett.
39 cars will start the event, three more than the Xfinity Series standard maximum 36-car starting field. Without qualifying, NASCAR has temporarily increased the size of the field until qualifying is restored into the weekend schedule.
Stephen Leicht, Landon Cassill and Colin Garrett will start 37th through 39th respectively.
Garrett will make his first start of the season after missing the season-opening race at Daytona for Sam Hunt Racing.
Unfortunately, the new race time could still face challenges for the sanctioning body and teams. The Weather Channel forecasts a 95 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms in Darlington, S.C.
The Xfinity Series last competed March 7 at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway won by Brandon Jones before going into hiatus the weekend of Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rookie Harrison Burton leads the championship standings by three points over Las Vegas winner Chase Briscoe.
