LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Doing a lot with a little, Ryan Sieg arrived at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway without the safety net of sponsorship support for this afternoon’s Boyd Gaming 300.
However, when the garage opened shortly after dawn Saturday in “Sin City,” Sieg’s No. 39 Chevrolet Camaro no longer lacked support for the third NASCAR XFINITY Series race of the season.
In fact, the Tucker, Georgia native has picked up sponsorship support from four local-based Las Vegas companies, with additional support from Uncle Bob’s Storage – who signed with the family-owned team for 16 XFINITY races this season.
Automated Agways and Kodiak Construction won a bid on Thursday night’s at a speedway children’s charity event to co-share Sieg’s hood. A portion of their winning bid also went to the charity.
Huntinator, an apparel line will cover the quarter panels, while Rollin Smoke BBQ is plastered on the television panel.
Sieg, 28, continues to draw attention this season. While his finishes at Daytona and Atlanta were uncharacteristic, Sieg’s on-track performance in practice and qualifying has rightfully earned his RSS Racing team some recognition.
Just 17th quickest in the first practice session Friday afternoon at LVMS, crew chief Kevin “Cowboy” Starland and Sieg attacked in final XFINITY Series practice, jumping to third quickest sandwiched between the Richard Childress Racing cars of Austin Dillon, Brian Scott and Brendan Gaughan.
Sieg made it abundantly clear Friday that while speed was important, a good finish was imperative to right the ship and make the steep climb from 23rd in the championship standings.
But while speed doesn’t guarantee a strong finish, it could be beneficial along with a late-race gamble that could earn the father-to-be his first solid performance of 2015.
After all, this is Las Vegas.
Last March, Sieg finished 22nd after starting 22nd.
Sieg will make his 40th career XFINITY Series start Saturday. In 39 races, a third-place finish at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last July is his career-best finish.
