DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Prior to qualifying for Saturday’s PowerShares QQQ 300 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, NASCAR ejected two crew chiefs and a car chief from the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.
Nick Harrison, crew chief of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet for driver Austin Dillon and Robert Scott, crew chief for the No. 74 Mike Harmon Racing Dodge Charger were banned from the garage along with the car chief for the No. 3, Michael Scearce.
According to a statement from NASCAR, Dillon’s No. 3 Bass Pro Shops / Cabela’s Chevrolet had a rear suspension violation that was discovered in pre-qualifying inspection.
Harmon’s No. 74 failed pre-qualifying inspection four times initiating Scott being barred from the event.
Additionally, both cars won’t be allowed to participate in qualifying and will have to rely on a provisional for a starting berth for the season-opening race.
NASCAR will review the infractions early next week and determine if additional penalties are warranted.
The PowerShares QQQ 300 is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET Saturday live on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
